College Basketball Picks March 21

Baylor +1.5 vs. Mississippi State

Baylor, at 19-14 this season, has struggled with a tougher Big 12 schedule. Simply put, I do not doubt Scott Drew in the NCAA Tournament, plus the Bears have KenPom’s 16th-best offense in the nation. Baylor has been bad against the spread this season at 12-18-2, yet they are 3-2 in neutral-site games.

Mississippi State plays at a considerably faster pace than Baylor. I think they will struggle on offense when the Bears can control the pace. Baylor has won five consecutive games in the Round of 64; I’ll be rolling with the Bears as the underdog here!

Illinois -3.5 vs. Xavier

Xavier looked dead in the water but pulled out a nice victory in the First Four against Texas. The Musketeers won’t be able to play like that against Illinois in this one. The Fighting Illini play at a breakneck pace, flying up and down the floor.

I am frankly not a fan of this Xavier team, and I think his one can be a beatdown. In the past, Brad Underwood has struggled in March Madness, yet I don’t think they’ll struggle in this spot.
