My dream of going a perfect 365-0 in 2025 with my best bets is finally dead. Long live my dream. But it’s back on the horse with another winning streak starting tomorrow (or actually tonight as this is being written before my best bet cashes on Tuesday). For my best bet for Wednesday, January 8th: NHL Predictions, I’m heading back to the rink – this time the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Vancouver Canucks vs Washington Capitals
Start Time – 7:30 PM EST
Whoever had the Washington Capitals pegged to be the best team in the NHL this season, raise your hand. Liars, the lot of you. But, lo and behold, the advanced stats have the Capitals ranked as the top team in the league. Their opponent tomorrow, the Vancouver Canucks, was supposed to be among the elite this season, but that hasn’t panned out.
This is all to say that I like Washington at home tomorrow against Vancouver. The Capitals have the sixth-best home record this season, which they’ll need to lean on as Vancouver is a very good road team. When you dive into the stats, Washington should be favored by about 1.6 goals tomorrow night, so if you want to get brave and take them on the -1.5 goal spread, go for it.
