MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 101
UFC Fight Night: Dern vs Ribas 2 (aka UFC Vegas 101)
Main Card Start Time: 4:00 pm EST (ESPN+)
For my underdog pick of the week, I’m dipping into Saturday’s co-main event, a welterweight bout between veterans Santiago Ponzinibbio and Carlston Harris. And, obviously, I’m going with the underdog, who would be ‘Mocambique’ Harris.
Even though he got knocked out in his last fight, I still think Harris has more left in the tank than Ponzinnibio has. A former top 170-pounder, Ponz has dropped two straight and only won once in five fights. Harris is equal to Ponzinibbio on the feet (although Ponz has more power), and Harris is the better grappler in this matchup. I think he’s worth a sprinkle at dog money.
