College Basketball Picks January 8
UConn Villanova Over 146.5 Total Points
What an interesting season it has been for the Villanova Wildcats. They started 2024-2025 with one of the worst starts in school history, losing Columbia, St. Josephs, and Virginia. Since then, they have looked like a dominant squad, especially offensively. KenPom ranks the Wildcats the fifth-best offense in the nation.
Speaking of offense, UConn has one of, if not the best, offenses in the country. Alex Karaban has improved leaps and bounds offensively from last season and has led the Huskies this year.
On the other side of the ball, there really isn’t much positive to mention for either team. UConn is looking for the three-peat, but their defense simply is not nearly championship caliber at the moment. Villanova’s defense is even worse and ranks as one of the worst in the Power Five.
In short, I’m expecting a lot of points in this one!
