Track & Field Picks: +100 Kishane Thompson To Win Men’s 100M Dash
As Jamaican and American sprinters Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin, respectively, step aside, a new inter-country rivalry is emerging. It is time for Jamaica’s newest sprinting superstar, Kishane Thompson (+100), to take center stage. Thompson’s biggest threat will be the flashy American showman Noah Lyles (+160). The two will likely meet in the Men’s 100m Finals on Saturday morning, August 3rd.
Lyles set a personal best at the 2024 USA Olympic Trials in Eugene in June with a 9.83 victory. Also, in June, at the Jamaican Olympic Trials, Thompson recorded two runs that finished better than Lyles’ 9.83. In Heat 1, Thompson sprinted a 9.82, it was 9.84 in Heat 2, and in the Finals, he put up an impressive 9.77 100m dash time.
There is something even crazier about Thompson’s 9.77 time. With 10 meters to go he looked across at his competition, saw he had the race won, and started high-stepping! World Athletics quoted Thompson saying, ‘I can run “way faster.'”
Thompson said that he feels the healthiest he has ever been. He explained some complications from Covid that he suffered and also adversity that he battled after some leg injuries. If you watch the Final Heat of the Jamaican Olympic Trials, you would believe he has more in the tank, too.
The handicap here is Thompson has a knack for starting off the blocks way better than Lyles. Noah Lyles has excellent closing speed, that’s why his best event is actually the 200m. Expect Thompson to have an early lead. We shall see what Lyles can do from behind an elite sprinter.
However this event finishes, expect electricity and a fresh rivalry in Olympic sprinting.
KISHANE THOMPSON. 9.77.
YOU HAVE NOAH LYLES’ ATTENTION.

Track & Field Picks: +100 Gabrielle Thomas To Win Women’s 200M Dash
Sunday morning, August 4th, Jamaican vs. American sprinting battle will be featured in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash Finals. At the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson won Gold over American Gabrielle Thomas. However Thomas’ form in 2024 has been sharper than Jackson’s.
Thomas has posted the fastest Women’s 200m time to date this year with a 21.78. Jackson’s seasonal best is just 22.29 during the semi-final heat of the Jamaican Olympic Trials in June. She does have the ability to post a 21.41, the second fastest Women’s 200m time in history, but in her age 30 season, Jackson seems to have lost a step.
In the same race as Jackson’s personal best (21.41), Thomas also posted her personal best of 21.60, the fourth-fastest Women’s 200m time in history. After her Bronze Medal finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 27-year-old will be gunning for Gold against Jackson, the woman who brings out the best in Thomas.
Shericka Jackson defends her Women’s 200m World title with a Championship Record. Sha’Carri settles for Bronze Medal.
