Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 14
Juan Soto Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
I’ve used Soto quite a bit in these pieces, and that is for good reason. If the season ended today, he would most likely be AL MVP; after all, he is the favorite based on the odds. Soto has put together one of the best starts to a season in his career. He’s hitting .314 with 9 home runs, 34 RBIs, and a .954 OPS.
Soto and the Bronx Bombers face off against the Twins on Tuesday, and Chris Paddack will be their starting pitcher. Paddack has pitched to a 4.34 ERA this season. The right-hander faced Soto four times in his career, and Soto is 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. This is a no-brainer of a pick, in my opinion. Let’s ride!
Isaac Paredes Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Paredes has received a larger opportunity to play in 2024, and he has made the most of it. Paredes is flat-out raking this season, hitting .300 with 8 home runs, 22 RBIs, and an OPS of .901. He’s definitely excited to be facing Nick Pivetta tonight. For his career, Paredes is 4-10 with 3 home runs against Pivetta. He is also red-hot coming in this game with 7 hits in his last five games.
Gunnar Henderson Higher than 9.0 Fantasy Points
Henderson is also on the shortlist of AL MVP candidates so far this season. Henderson is tied for second in baseball with 12 home runs already on the season. Quite impressive for the 22-year-old sophomore. On Tuesday, Henderson will face the Blue Jays Chris Bassitt, who has struggled immensely this season. Henderson also has success in a few plate appearances against Bassitt. Also, in this spot, Fantasy Points gives us an opportunity to take advantage of Henderson’s elite speed with stolen bases or runs.
