Week 4 AAF Picks & Preview: Good Football, Great Betting Opportunities

I’m coming off a 3-1 ATS week and I’m 8-4 ATS on the year. I’ve never had a losing week in the history of the AAF. The only game I lost last week was the San Diego Fleet over the San Antonio Commanders. Here we go for week 4.

SAN DIEGO FLEET @ MEMPHIS EXPRESS

SATURDAY 12PM PT

The San Diego Fleet really found the offense that we are so common to seeing under Mike Martz. This team struggled offensively throughout the first two weeks but now with the offense clicking under QB Philip Nelson this looks like a team that could be flying under the radar to do some real damage in the league.

The Memphis Express and head coach Mike Singletary finally pulled the plug on former New York Jets second round pick Christian Hackenberg.  After he threw two awful interceptions, he was replaced by former LSU QB Zach Mettenberg who moved the ball better than any point in the Express season.

ORLANDO APOLLOS @ SALT LAKE CITY STALLIONS

SATURDAY 5PM PT

The Apollos didn’t look as strong as they did the first two weeks but they still got the W against the Memphis Express. One can only wonder if they would’ve won had Zach Mettenburger played the whole game. The Apollos still look like the team to beat, but they need to run the football better. This is their furthest trip thus far in the season and the weather should play an option as the forecast calls for snow currently.

Week 3 AAF Picks & Preview

Dennis Erickson somehow has never coached against Steve Spurrier despite both coaches coaching major football schools within the state of Florida. Salt Lake City got their first win last week just as I predicted. The Stallion defense showed up in a big way knocking out Arizona Hot Shots QB John Wofford. Expect some more great defense a heavy dose of Brandon Oliver running the ball on the ground if the weather hits as hard as they are projecting.

SAN ANTONIO COMMANDERS @ BIRMINGHAM IRON

SUNDAY 1PM PT

The Commanders looked like a really complete football team the first two weeks of the season but then came last week and I think we’re all confused here. The Commanders couldn’t do anything right last week. Their defense gave up a ton of big plays and their QB Logan Woodside struggled. Now comes a tough road game against an Iron team that wins ugly.

Week 4 AAF Picks & Preview

The Birmingham Iron have been fun to watch. They use an old school mentality with a run heavy offense and a hard hitting defense. One of the big keys I’ve noticed from the Birmingham Iron is that they make absolutely great halftime adjustments. Expect another heavy dosage of Trent Richardson and some stout defense.

ATLANTA LEGENDS @ ARIZONA HOT SHOTS

SUNDAY 5 PM PT

The Legends look like by far the worst team in the country. The offense simply can’t move the ball down the field and when they do get down the field the drives stall out because of drops or bad passes. Defensively they aren’t nearly as bad. One can only wonder how long Matt Simms remains the starter in Atlanta.

The Arizona Hot Shots are fresh off a tough loss at the Salt Lake City Stallions in which their starting QB John Wofford got knocked out. That’s something to watch since backup QB Trevor Knight didn’t move the ball too well. Wofford was playing at an extremely high level before the injury.
