Game 1 of the (almost) annual Battle of Florida went to the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, as they manhandled the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on their home ice. What are the chances they pull off the repeat in Game 2?
I’m going to count on it not being very high. The Lightning were the fourth-best team in the NHL this season at home, compiling a 29-8-4 record on the Amalie Arena ice. And the Panthers were only the 15th-best road team in the NHL during the regular season.
Florida has beaten Tampa Bay twice now on enemy turf, so the law of averages says they’ve used up their wins. And the Lightning are too good a team to lose back-to-back at home. Tampa Bay on the moneyline is my best bet for Thursday. Go Bolts!
