The puck is about to be dropped on the best playoffs in professional sports. The NHL Playoffs start tomorrow, with 16 teams trying to run the gauntlet and raise Lord Stanley’s Cup in June. For my best bet for Saturday, April 19th: NHL Predictions, we’re off to the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for some Western Conference First Round action. Let’s go!
Best Bet For Saturday (April 19th): NHL Predictions
St. Louis Blues vs Winnipeg Jets
Start Time: 6:00 PM EST
The Winnipeg Jets had a regular season for the ages, destroying their preseason over/under projection for points by 20 (116 actual points vs 96.5 projected). However, last season was also a season for the ages for the Jets, as they earned 110 points but got bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
Perhaps that’s why Winnipeg is being overlooked a bit heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs (they’re only being given the third-best chance of hoisting the Cup at the end of the playoffs). However, with the best goalie in the league, Connor Hellebuyck, between the pipes and the third-most potent offense in the league in front of him, I like their chances of at least avoiding the first-round upset this season.
My number for Game 1 of this series against the St. Louis Blues is Winnipeg -1.1, so the Jets on the moneyline is my best bet for Saturday.
