The NASCAR Cup Series has the weekend off. So it’s time for the Craftsman Truck and Xfinity Series drivers to get the spotlight! They’ll head to the revived Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina, on Friday and Saturday for their respective races. Let’s take a look at this week’s NASCAR picks, odds, and best bets for Trucks and Xfinity at Rockingham Speedway.
It’s Easter weekend, and NASCAR returns to their tradition of having the Sunday holiday off. It’ll be the last break for the Cup Series teams before 28 straight weeks of finishing out the regular season and going straight into the playoffs. For everyone else, it’s back to Rockingham for the first NASCAR-sanctioned race since 2013.
The 1.017-mile D-shaped oval underwent an asphalt repave in 2022 as the track made preparations to hold a future event. In January, NASCAR held a test session for Truck and Xfinity teams with some laps run by Cup Series regulars. “Really fast. Crazy. Wild,” said Cup regular Ross Chastain. “It felt like the speeds at Dover or Atlanta.
This weekend also marks the return of 15-time most popular driver and 18-time Cup Series winner Kasey Kahne. Kahne, who hasn’t competed in NASCAR since 2018, will wheel the #33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet sponsored by Hendrickcars.com.

Layne Riggs Over Sammy Smith (-135)
This one is a bit juiced up, but as I always say on the NASCAR Gambling Podcast, “you only pay the juice if you lose.” The only way I see this one losing is if Riggs has an issue. Just head-to-head, Riggs should easily be the better truck on the day. In their four matchups last year, head to head in the Truck Series, Smith Sanhedrin the first one when Riggs was struggling. Once Riggs figured things out, it wasn’t even close as he beat Smith in the next three matchups. Riggs won multiple races down the stretch last year and has started this season off with a bang, finishing sixth last week, second at Homestead, and fifth at Las Vegas.
Corey Heim to Win (+200)
It’s a lot easier to bet on the chalk driver in the Truck Series than it is in the Cup Series, especially on a week with no Kyle Larson or Kyle Busch-type drivers coming down. Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones are racing down from Xfinity, but they’ve been disappointing in their previous starts, jumping down a class. We have no track history to look at, and no true comparison tracks from this season.
What we do know is that this track should race really fast, and Heim is the king of that. Heim has won two of the six races this season and finished in the top three in four of them. He’s led almost 300 laps, and barring races he has trouble (like his truck shutting off when he was going to beat Kyle Larson at Homestead), he’s the fastest truck and best driver in the series week in and week out.

Carson Kvapil Top 5 (+200)
Carson Kvapil has shown his talent this season. Early in the year, he ran fast but wasn’t getting the finishes to back it up. Now he is. Last week, he finished second to Kyle Larson at Bristol, following up on a fifth-place finish from Darlington. Kvapil scored four top 10 finishes in his limited starts in the series last year, including a second-place finish at Dover, which many point to as the closest comparison this week. I’m all in on the talent of this young driver who is in a fast car.
Brandon Jones to Win (+900)
I was very high on Jones this season, returning home to Joe Gibbs Racing, where he belongs after a subpar stint with Junior Motorsports. Jones hasn’t disappointed in 2025. He picked up the win at Darlington two weeks ago in a field that had Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, and Ross Chastain all in elite equipment. In five of the last six races after the superspeedways and COTA, Jones has recorded a top-seven finish. He’s in fast, Elite equipment at Joe Gibbs Racing and will be a true threat on Saturday.
