NBA First Bucket Props – April 13
Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tipoff – 1:00 pm EST
Rocket Arena – Cleveland, OH
Broadcast – NBA TV
There aren’t a lot of starters on either of these two teams playing on Sunday. It makes sense being how much each of them has to play for at this point in the season. However, we can still get a good ready on the first bucket thanks to both of the tip guys being good to go for today. Myles Turner will take the tip for the Pacers – winning just 26.5% on the year. Meanwhile, Jarrett Allen is grabbing 79.5% of his teams. With the tip winner getting 65.7% of all first buckets, that 53.0% is something to pay attention to and it’s why I’m on the Cavaliers to score first.
If we’re going specific on players for the first bucket, I’m leaning on the aforementioned Jarrett Allen. Even with the whole squad health and in the line up, he posted nine first buckets for his team. Now with a rag-tag crew around him on Sunday, I expect him to take charge and be the first one to get some points.
First Bucket Bet for April 13: Jarrett Allen (+550)
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
Moda Center – Portland, OR
Broadcast – NBA TV
More resting players in this one on Sunday, but the tipoff is between the team’s two healthy centers. For the Blazers, it’ll be Donovan Clingan with his 35.3% success rate on winning the tip. On the other side, Jaxson Hayes will man the circle. He’s won 65.6% of his jumps since taking over following the Anthony Davis trade. That’s another wide lead in the tip win rate and the Lakers are a top five team for converting those chances.
It’s hard to narrow down how the Lakers will behave on offense with so few of their normal crew in the game. It does seem like when the regular starters are not available, they are far more likely to just let it fly. If that’s the case, I’ll go with Dalton Knecht. Even off the bench, he’s shooting 2.7 three-points a game. With a chance to be the feature, I think we could see a lot more action from him.
First Bucket Bet for April 13: Dalton Knecht (+550)
