Will this finally be the year that Rory McIlroy completes the career Grand Slam? He’s certainly making a strong run at it, as his 66 in Round 2 was the lowest of the day. He’s subsequently jumped from 24th up to a tie for third place in the field, two strokes behind the leader, Justin Rose.
And I’m expecting McIlroy to continue his strong play on Saturday. For the most part, he’s improved his performance as the Masters tournament has worn on, posting better scores in Round 3 than in Round 2. With Rose’s play slipping, as has normally been the case with him at Augusta, McIlroy is in the perfect position to pounce and be in the catbird seat heading into Sunday.
