UFC 314: Volkanovski vs Lopes – Predictions & Best Bets

Paddy Pimblett – Wins via Submission (+240)

‘The Baddy’ has proven me wrong time and time again, so I’m ready to get on the train with this one. His grappling looks sharp and the transitions he uses to get to his submissions appear out of nowhere. While Michael Chandler has been good at avoiding submissions in the past, I think the size of Pimblett as well as his willingness to go for it will bring it home for him.

Virna Jandiroba ML (-140) vs. Yan Xiaonan

We’ve seen a number of fighters get Yan Xioanan down in fights. Despite having some issues there in the past, she always seems to get up and force a fire fight. The difference for me in this one is the style of Jandiroba on the mat. She specializes in holding her opponent in place and making them work off their back. I think she’ll rack up enough control to win a decision or make Xiaonan make a mistake.

Volkanovski/Lopes – Fight Goes to Decision (+130)

Everybody is concerned about Volkanovski’s chin. However, I’m not sold that it’s shot. He got knocked out once on super short notice. The second time was to a big power puncher in Ilia Topuria. Neither of those things are true in this spot. However, if you just can’t get behind his moneyline, this is a great way to get a bet in on his performance and cash even without him winning.

Marco Tulio – Wins via KO (+100)

This is a huge step up in striking for Tresean Gore. The best striker he’s faced in his career is Bryan Battle and he was pieced up by him that whole fight. Tulio is much more of a specialist with the hands. As we like to say, there are levels to these things. I expect Tulio to show him what those levels look like in this one.

Nora Cornolle ML (-180) vs Hailey Cowan

Nora Cornolle has dazzled with her hands, and her feet, in her short stint in the UFC. She looks like a real threat to a large portion of this division. Cowan on the other hand has been on a long injury layoff and looked rough in her debut. On top of that, she missed weight for that bout. I think with the time off she’ll have trouble with her timing early in this one and won’t be able to catch back up.

Sean Woodson – Wins via KO (+750)

As you may know, we always like to end these things with one bomb. I know that Dan Ige has never been KOed and he’s as tough as a $2 steak. However, he’s not typically facing a sniper with seven inches of height and seven inches of reach over him. If Ige tries to close the distance, he’s going to pay the price – which may just be his first loss via finish.
