NBA First Bucket Props – April 10
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Indiana Pacers
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Gainbridge Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, IN
Broadcast – TNT
We’re late in the season, so we have to be careful with the stats that we throw around. However, the one constant for the Cavaliers in this game is a presence of Jarrett Allen. The center is the only of the regular starters in the lineup and it’s his tip wins that give us confident in the Cavaliers side. They rank first in the league in both tip wins and first bucket success rate thanks to the work of Allen in the circle. It also won’t hurt matters that the Pacers are one of the very worst in the league in those attributes – ranking 29th and 25th respectively.
If we’re going to make an individual play on this game, we might as well continue to ride with Allen. Firstly, he has a decent number next to his name considering the amount of people who are out. With no Max Strus, Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, or Evan Mobley – he has to be the only guy with any real early game action recently.
First Bucket Bet for April 10: Jarrett Allen (+550)
Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, NY
Broadcast – NBA TV
Another game where the visitors will have the advantage takes place in Brooklyn on Thursday. The Nets are a below average team in first bucket successes and tip off wins. They lag behind the Hawks in those categories pretty significantly in both of those categories. The Hawks have a 9.7% advantage when it comes to winning the tip, which is actually larger when you consider the job being done by Onyeka Okongwu to pick up those stats. They also have a 10.1% lead when it comes to finishing the first bucket. Those leads are enough for me to back Atlanta here for the first score.
If I’m getting greedy and playing a single player, why not Zaccharie Risacher? The Hawks guard has been solid on the first bucket all year, but has also been getting a lot of early looks lately. He has taken one of the first three shots in two of the last three games. One of those games, he took the first two shots and had Atlanta’s first basket. That volume is enough to get behind in this one.
First Bucket Bet for April 10: Zaccharie Risacher (+650)
