It’s pay-per-view time again in the UFC, and we’ve got a fun one for April. UFC 314 goes down this coming Saturday at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, with a title fight on top and plenty of fun, action fighters spread throughout the fight card. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC 314, we don’t have to look hard for my pick – it’s in the main event. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC 314
UFC 314: Volkanovski vs Lopes
Main Card Start Time: 10:00 PM EST (PPV)
Saturday’s main event is for the vacant UFC Featherweight Championship, with former long-time champion Alexander Volkanovski facing up-and-coming prospect Diego Lopes. And I’ll gladly take Lopes as a live dog in this one.
Lopes is hardly a perfect fighter, but he’s beaten all fighters put in front of him over the past two years, with the level of his opponents increasing with each fight. And he’s a dangerous finisher, both on the feet and on the ground.
But this pick is more of a fade of Volkanovski than an endorsement of Lopes. Volk has been knocked out in back-to-back fights and is 36 years old, six years older than Lopes. There are no comebacks in MMA for aging fighters – Volkanovski’s days at the top are over.
