After a two-week international foray (London! Mexico City!), the UFC octagon is back setting up shop in the UFC Apex this coming weekend. Sigh. But at least we don’t have middleweights in the main event (although the main card kicks off with two 185-pound fights). For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 105, I’ve got a live dog in a prelim bantamweight fight. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs Murphy (aka UFC Vegas 105)
Start Time: 6:00 PM EST (ESPN/ESPN+)
The bantamweight fight in question pits England’s Davey Grant against Brazil’s Daniel Santos. And I’m going with the grizzled Brit to turn back his opponent 10 years his junior.
The age gap is a concern, but I still think ‘Dangerous’ Davey can get the job done here for us. This is mostly because he’s a much better striker than his Brazilian counterpart, and I tend to always side with the better striker in a matchup. But Grant is also no slouch on the mat, with nine submission wins in the 16 professional fights where he’s had his hand raised.
