Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 105
UFC Flyweight Fight: Luis Gurule vs Ode Osbourne
Start Time: Saturday 6:00pm EST (ESPN+)
My favorite play of the prelims for Saturday is a newcomer to the UFC. Luis Gurule showed why he came into the Contender Series so highlky touted. He shucked off the takedown attempts for noted wrestler Nick Piccininni in that fight en route to a decision victory. While he didn’t get the finish, his ability to push the pace and do damage made him a prospect to watch in the future.
I also love the matchup he’s getting here in Ode Osbourne. While he is a long fighter, Osbourne doesn’t really land in a way that deters fighters like Gurule from moving forward. Additionally, his wrestling game isn’t what we see from Piccininni. As a result, I think Gurule is getting an easier bout that his last and should be able to batter Osbourne all night.
