Khaman Maluach Higher Than 1.5 Blocks
Duke big man Khaman Maluach comes into today’s Elite Eight match up with Alabama averaging 1.3 blocks per game. However, he’s exceeded 1.5 blocks in five of his last six. He’s coming off a game against Arizona where he swatted four shots.
Alabama allows opponents to average 4.2 blocked shots against this year. That’s 331st in the nation. The Crimson Tide are one of the more blockable teams in the nation.
BYU only had one block in their game, but the Cougars lack size down low. St. Mary’s blocked four shots against the Crimson Tide. Three came from big man Harry Wessels. Robert Morris managed five blocks. One came from forward Alvaro Folgueiras. The Crimson Tide can get stopped near the rim, and Maluach should put back at least two shots in this one. Let’s ride with Mt. Maluach to block at least two shots in our Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry.
Mark Sears Higher Than 20.5 Points
Sears comes into the Elite Eight averaging 19.6 points per game. However, he’s seen an increased usage rate in the NCAA tournament and has only gone lower than 20.5 points in one of the three games he played. In last year’s run to the Final Four, Sears went higher than 20.5 points in four out of five games played.
Sears and Alabama have a tough match up in Duke, but if you think Sears is going to end his career with fewer than 20.5 points, you’re wrong. He’s coming off a crazy shooting game against BYU, and he won’t make six three-pointers in back-to-back games, but he’s going to do whatever he has to keep Alabama in this game.
He’s gone higher than 20.5 points against Florida and Houston this year. He missed against Auburn in both games he played against the Tigers. Let’s ride with Sears to go higher than 20.5 points against Duke tonight.
Walter Clayton Jr. Higher Than 19.5 Points
Florida combo guard Walter Clayton Jr. comes into today’s Elite Eight match up with Texas Tech averaging 17.7 points per game. However, he’s gone higher than 19.5 points in six of his last eight games.
Texas Tech allows opponents to shoot 32.2% from beyond the arc. That’s 81st in the nation. Clayton averages 3.0 made threes on 7.8 three-point attempts per game. That’s a 38.6% clip.
Texas Tech also allows opponents to average 18.8 attempts from the free-throw line. That’s 167th in the nation. Clayton is third on the Gators in free throw attempts and shoots over 85% from the line.
Clayton has a lot of ways to rack up points in this game against Texas Tech, and he’ll need to score to get Florida into the Final Four. He may need to play close to 40 minutes in this one, and that just means more opportunities to score. The side we’ll want in this one is for Clayton to go higher than 19.5 points for our Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for March 29th.
