While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we head overseas for RIZIN 50 from Japan for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: RIZIN 50
RIZIN Featherweight Fight: Chihiro Suzuki vs Karshyga Dautbek
Card Start Time: Saturday (3/29), 11:00pm EST (RIZIN PPV)
People see a name like Karshyga Dautbek from Kazakhstan and assume that he should be able to outwreslte anyone. However, he’s far more of a strike than he is a grappler. In fact, it seems that he doesn’t really try to get to that grappling unless he feels outmatched on the feet or starts to tire. Often, when fighting good enough opponents, that’s too little too late.
I expect that to be the case when he faces Suzuki. The Japanese prospect does an excellent job of putting pressure on opponents. Additionally, he’s much faster when it comes to striking and appears to have much more power as well.
If Dautbek doesn’t immediately shoot that takedown, I expect him to get picked apart on the feet. By the time that happens, it’ll be too late to change the plan of attack.
