Perfect 3-0 Pick Em Entries: 20-104
Richie Saunders Higher Than 17.5 Points
BYU has to face Alabama in the Sweet Sixteen. The Crimson Tide allow opponents to score 81.0 points per game this year. That’s 346th in the nation. Points will be scored, and forward Richie Saunders is the leading scorer on the BYU Cougars. Saunders should make the Crimson Tide pay for playing so loose on the defensive end.
Saunders can shoot from deep, get to the rack, and make his free throws. He has a lot of avenues to score points here, and he’s become the Cougars first option. Saunders averages 16.3 points per game this year. He’s also exceeded 17.5 points in six of his last 11 games.
BYU is really good at scoring, and Saunders is their top scorer. He has several ways to generate points and should find soft spots in the Crimson Tide defense. Everyone else has this year. Also, he should play more than 30 minutes in this game. He’s gone higher than 17.5 points in 14 out of 21 games he’s played at least 30 minutes. More minutes against a leaky defense? Saunders should fly over 17.5 points against Alabama in this game.
Derik Queen Higher Than 2.5 Turnovers
Maryland draws Florida in the Sweet Sixteen, which could be a tough match for Terps big man Derik Queen.
Queen enters this game averaging 2.4 turnovers per game. He’s gone higher than 2.5 turnovers in each of his two tournament games played. Queen has also gone higher than 2.5 turnovers in seven of his last 11 games played.
Florida comes into this game with a defense that generates 11.9 turnovers per game. That’s 160th in the nation. They also have several athletic bigs to throw at Queen. Lastly, Queen should see an increased usage rate in this one. He’s turned the ball over three times in 33 minutes in each of his first two games against competition that isn’t nearly as tough as the Gators. What happens when he plays 36 minutes against one of the best teams in the nation? The answer is he goes higher than 2.5 turnovers for your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry.
Kon Knueppel Higher Than 1.5 3-Pointers Made
We’ve got ourselves a square number for Kon Knueppel’s match up with the Arizona Wildcats. The Duke freshman comes into this game averaging 2.1 3-pointers made per game this year. He’s gone higher than 1.5 made three’s in five of his last seven.
This number is a bit low because he went 1-for-4 against Mount St. Mary’s and 0-for-5 against Louisville. However, Knueppel is in a great spot to bounce back against Arizona.
The Arizona Wildcats enter this match up allowing opponents to shoot 33.5% from beyond the arc. That’s 155th in the nation. The Wildcats also allow opponents to make 8.6 three-pointers per game this year. That’s 304th in the nation.
Arizona struggles to defend the perimeter, and Knueppel has the trend, the average, and the ability to make them pay. Lock up Knueppel to go higher than 1.5 three-pointers made in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for March 27th.
