The UFC heads south of the border for UFC Mexico City. The headliner sees a pair of championship hopefuls in Brandon Moreno and Steven Erceg looking to climb back into the title picture. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Mexico City
UFC Strawweight Fight: Loopy Godinez vs Julia Polastri
Start Time: Saturday 4:00pm EST (ESPN+)
Julia Polastri is getting a step up in competition following her last win, but I think it’s a little too much, too soon. She’s coming off a split decision victory over Cory McKenna in which she had a little trouble with the control of her Welsh counterpart. That’s not a good sign when you have to step into the cage with Loopy Godinez.
On the otherside, the number has come down on Godinez largely because she’s coming off of back-to-back losses. However, both of those losses are to the very best grapplers the 115lbs class has to offer. Even given that fact, she had her moments where her wrestling played up in those fights.
This certainly seems like a mismatch when it hits the ground. I fully expect it to get there and Godinez to make this line look like an obvious value when it does.
