College Basketball Picks March 20
Gonzaga -6.5 vs. Georgia
A matchup between two Bulldogs! I absolutely love the Zags in this tournament. Ken Pom and BartTorvik both rank Gonzaga as a top 11 team in the country, yet they got an eight-seed. Gonzaga plays extremely fast, which pays off for them on the offensive side of the ball. Even playing with the 46th-highest tempo in the country, the Bulldogs still manage to possess the 29th-best defense, according to KenPom.
Georgia, on the other hand, likes to play slow. They simply don’t impress me much on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. Georga is battle-tested, as the team has played one of the toughest schedules in the country. Many SEC teams will have the advantage of playing some of the premier teams in the country. But will this really benefit Georgia against a team as talented as Gonzaga?
I think not. I’ll be rolling the Bulldogs…from Gonzaga.
