College Basketball Picks March 19
Texas +3.5 vs. Xavier
Like most SEC teams, the Longhorns played a challenging schedule in the 2024-25 season. In February and March, they picked up big wins against Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. They are led by Tre Johnson, who is 21st in the nation in points per game with 19.8.

On the other hand, Xavier finished fourth in the Big East, winning seven of eight games to end their season. They have not nearly had the strength of schedule as their Wednesday counterparts, but they have picked up wins against UConn and Marquette.
Texas has the better offense, although they are a slower-paced squad. In the NCAA Tournament, I often find myself siding with the better offensive team, as points at the end of games are at a premium when seasons are on the line. ESPN’s FPI also favors the Longhorns in this one.
I’ll gladly take the points. Texas +3.5
