College Basketball Picks January 9
Ohio State -3.5 vs. Oregon
This is the classic spot game. You have Oregon coming into this one as the 15th-ranked team in the country. They are underdogs to an unranked Ohio State squad with five losses. We hit big on this spot on Tuesday with Florida, which I think is similar. With Ohio State at home, I see them as a slam dunk pick. Ohio State is 9-6 against the spread this season and 7-2 against the spread at home.
Bruce Thornton and Devin Royal have been outstanding for the Buckeyes, carrying their offense. I think these teams are much more similar than their records would indicate. Ohio State has faced some really tough teams on their schedule, which explains why they have five losses already.
I expect both teams to be in the mix in March, but in this spot, I am rolling with the Buckeyes.
