Finally the UFC “offseason” is over – it was a long four weeks, but the octagon lights are back on this Saturday night in Las Vegas. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 101, we’re hitting up the main event in the UFC Apex.

MMA Parlay Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 101
UFC Fight Night: Dern vs Ribas 2
Fight Card Start Time: 4:00 pm EST (ESPN+)
I struggled to find a ‘lock’ pick for the UFC’s return, but I’ve settled on the main event as my spot. It’s a rematch from 2019 when Amanda Ribas beat Mackenzie Dern via unanimous decision at UFC Tampa.
In that fight Ribas battered Dern on the feet, outstriking her 84-50, and Dern only landed 13% of her significant strikes. But perhaps most importantly, Ribas stuffed all six of Dern’s takedown attempts. Ribas is still the better striker five years later, she still stops 85% of takedown attempts, and Dern is still pretty crummy at striking and landing takedowns.
So, basically, not much has changed over the past 5+ years. Ribas is the pick in the rematch.
