While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week, we stay domestic for LFA 199 from Lemoore, California for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 199
LFA Heavyweight Fight: Larry Gonzales vs Billy Ray Valdez
Card Start Time: Friday (1/10), 10:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
One of the main card fights at LFA’s first offering of the year, pits a couple of big boys who are veterans of the organization. Both men have been in some wars – in fact, they’ve both been in wars with the same man. Each man took one of their losses to Steven Asplund and it’s really those fights that give us a pick here.
In his fight of the year nominated loss to Steven Asplund, Larry Gonzales would not go away. He seemed to land more and more as time went on and really flexed his chin on some big strikes. Despite his size, he showed solid cardio and ultimately took Asplund to the card.
Valdez, on the other hand, was stopped in the first due to a cut. While cuts are sometimes flukey, he was already beginning to slow thanks to the pace of Asplund.
Gonzales should push the pace early here and reap the rewards late. I like him in a decision.
