Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys Preview and Predictions

Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys Preview and Predictions

The Washington Commanders head to Texas to visit the Dallas Cowboys. The teams will meet up at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Washington remains in the playoff seeding mix as Dallas vies for their draft position. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX. Let’s dive in and take a look at this Commanders-Cowboys preview and predictions.

The Washington Commanders have already locked up their berth in the playoffs just one season removed from being 4-13. Now all that’s left is to determine their seeding in the NFC playoffs, which determines their first round playoff match. They currently hold the #7 seed but have a chance to move up to #6. Head Coach Dan Quinn said the team will be aggressive to try and move up in seeding. Their starters will play.

Dallas has been out of the mix for a while and currently hold the #18 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mike McCarthy knows this could be his final game as the Cowboys head coach. With an owner like Jerry Jones who can be swayed by the bowing of the wind, I’d expect McCarthy to bring everything he has this weekend as he attempts to save his job.

Game Total Over 43.5 (-110)

When these teams matched up not long ago, the final score was 34-26, with Washington snagging the victory. Sixty total points were put up in that game, which had a similar over-under (44.5) going into the match. There are question marks around this one, as with most Week 18 games, but with the Commanders playing for a better seed, McCarthy coaching for his job, and a solid backup in Marcus Mariota if the Commanders do turn to their backups. The Over should come through.

Both teams have trended well towards the over. Dallas’ games have gone over in three in a row and six of their last seven. It’s a similar story for Washington, who’s gone over in four of their last five games and six of their last eight games.

Washington Commanders -5.5 (-115)

This one is pretty simple for me. If Jayden Daniels really does play the whole game, that makes you feel great about this. If he doesn’t, it’s likely because he got a lead and turned the keys over to Mariota who again, is more than capable of holding on to it.

Both teams have proven to be solid against the spread lately, with Washington being 3-1 over their last four games and 10-5-1 on the season as a whole. Dallas is just 6-10 ATS. Dallas is going to give it their all, but they are also ready for the offseason. All Washington has to do is win by six.
