Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder

Start Time – 8:00 PM EST

We get a good New Year’s Eve matchup here, with the surging Minnesota Timberwolves (winners of three straight) taking on the NBA’s best team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. And it’s also a good game for us to get in on the OKC side of the spread.

The Thunder’s home-court advantage is historically worth over three points per game, and the advanced stats already have them almost 10 points better than the Wolves if they played at a neutral site. Oklahoma City should be favored by 12.5 points here.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Los Angeles Lakers

Start Time – 9:00 PM EST

Despite playing on the road on the second night of a back-to-back, and despite laying points on the spread, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the play to make against the Los Angeles Lakers. That’s how much better Cleveland is than Los Angeles (that’s a sentence not often said).

It also helps that the now 40-year-old (Happy Birthday!) LeBron James is questionable to play tomorrow night. Cleveland should be favored by six points by my math, so there’s plenty of value on this spread.
