Rizin 49: Decade
Tuesday, Dec 31st – Start Time: Midnight EST (Rizin TV)
The co-main event in the Saitama Super Arena on New Year’s Eve is for the Rizin FF Lightweight Championship, currently held by Robert ‘Satoshi’ de Souza. The Japanese-Brazilian fighter is up against challenger Vugar Karamov, from Azerbaijan. And we’re strangely getting a great number on the champ.
‘Satoshi’ is a multi-time world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, so he will negate Karamov’s grappling, which the challenger leans on often to win fights. Plus, the champ’s striking is ever-improving, so he probably also has the edge on the feet. Add in de Souza’s superior resume and experience, and I don’t see a path to victory for the challenger.
