We’re at the start of what amounts to an offseason in the MMA world, with the UFC dark for almost a month over the holiday season (although other regional promotions are still up and running, filling the void a bit). With the action in the UFC cage done for 2024, now is the time to look ahead and place our bets on who will be wearing UFC gold around their waists in their respective weight classes when December 31, 2025 rolls around. First up: 2025 UFC Strawweight Champion.

MMA Futures Pick of the Week: 2025 UFC Strawweight Champion
2025 UFC Strawweight Champion FUtures Best Bet
I hate to give out such a chalky futures pick, but current champ Weili Zhang is my pick to retain the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship until at least the end of 2025 (as she did in 2023 and 2024). As is the case with all futures bets like this, you need to find not only the best fighter in the division but you must also plot a reasonable path to the title for them.
Zhang is not an active champion, having only fought once in 2024 and 2023. And she has a fight scheduled for February against Tatiana Suarez. While Suarez is a tough matchup, she also chronically gets injured and pulls out of fights (she’s fought twice since 2019, pulling out of four other fights). The most realistic outcome is Zhang winning her fight in February and maybe not fighting again until 2026, leaving no paths to the title for any other fighter.
