The UFC puts a bow on their 2024 this coming Saturday at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Buckley (aka UFC Tampa) isn’t the most star-studded card – especially for a UFC arena show – but it’s got plenty of spots for us to earn money. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Tampa, I’m counting on a fighter to continue to defy Father Time.

UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Buckley
Prelim Start Time: 10:00 pm EST (ESPN2/ESPN+)
The 41-year-old Cub Swanson hasn’t exactly defied Father Time – he’s 2-3 over his last five fights – but he hasn’t shown a discernable dip in skills or durability, which is surprising considering the wars he’s been in. And I think he still has enough left in the tank to beat Billy Quarantillo in Saturday’s co-main event.
Billy Q isn’t exactly a spring chicken either – he’s 36 – and he hasn’t fought the same level of competition Swanson has over his career. ‘Killer’ should be better than him on the feet and has solid takedown defense so Quarantillo won’t be able to utilize his grappling. Swanson’s worth a swing at plus money.
