UFC Tampa comes your way from Florida this weekend at the Amalie Arena. A late replacement fight on last week’s card has us with a new makeshift main event for this one. MMA Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Tampa
UFC Featherweight Fight: Miles Johns vs Felipe Lima
Prelim Start Time: 7pm EST (ESPN+)
When Felipe Lima took his short notice debut in the UFC, everybody seemingly agreed that Muhammad Naimov was a tough first ask. Not only did he pass the test with no time to prepare, but he finished Naimov in the third. The best trait of Lima in not just that fight, but during his championship run in Oktagon MMA, is that he can stuff a takedown and force him opponent to fight his kind of fight.
Miles Johns has had a solid UFC career, but has largely struggled with people who can stuff his takedowns. Both John Castaneda and Dan Argueta gave him a tough time. Both of those guys have a solid wrestling base, but neither strike as well as Lima.
I expect Lima to keep this on the feet and to beat up Johns here.
