NBA First Scorer Props – December 9
New York Knicks vs. Toronto Raptors
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Scotiabank Arena – Toronto, ON
Broadcast – NBA TV
With this being the lone game on the slate, there is very little to separate out these two teams. The tip win rates for the two centers are nearly identical. Karl-Antony Towns has won 42.9% of his tips this year to Jakob Poeltl’s 43.5%. That less than one percent doesn’t really tell us anything. With that being the case, we look to the success rates on the first score. Again, the Raptors have a narrow lead. They score first about 6.1% more of the time than the Knicks. Combine that with a slight lean to home teams on the first bucket and we’ll take someone from Toronto here.
Six different members of the Raptors have scored first on the year. However, only two of them have scored first more than twice – RJ Barrett and Gradey Dick. Between those two, I’ll take Dick and his sharp shooting on Monday. Not only does he have four first buckets, but he’s coming off a game where he scored 27 points. If the Raptors want to be competitive they’ll be looking to get his shooting going early again.
