MMA Parlay Pick of the Week: UFC Tampa
UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Buckley
Main Card Start Time: 10:00 pm EST (ESPN2/ESPN+)
Saturday’s main event is a hastily arranged welterweight fight between former multi-time title challenger Colby Covington and rising prospect Joaquin Buckley. Buckley originally was scheduled to fight Ian Machado Garry, but Machado Garry instead fought this past weekend at UFC 310, so Covington is stepping in on less than a month’s notice.
I’d be picking Buckley to win this fight even if Covington had a full camp to prepare for it. ‘Chaos’ is well past his prime, with only one win (and two fights) since March 2022. And Buckley can both turn your lights off on the feet and wrestle you. A bit of a chalky play, but it should be a pretty safe one.
