MMA Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 310
UFC Welterweight Fight: Michael Chiesa vs Max Griffin
Prelim Start Time: 8pm EST (ESPN+)
Since the midway point of 2021, Michael Chiesa has had a pretty rough go of it. In that three and a half years, he’s won just a single fight, and that was against a lightweight fighter who was well past time prime in Tony Ferguson. Now he’ll face Max Griffin, who has seen much different fortunes since that date.
Griffin brings a gritty and grueling style that most welterweights can’t keep up with. He turns every fight into a war and has only really lost to lanky, rangey welterweights. I expect him to be able to deter the wrestling of Chiesa and force him into a dog fight. If he does this, I expect it to be one of the easier fights that Griffin could face.
