UFC Vegas 100: Magny vs Prates – Predictions & Best Bets
Cortavious Romious ML (-220) vs. Gaston Bolanos
Let’s start off this card with a bit of chalk. Romious, making his UFC debut, may seem like he’s being priced too steep, but I actually think there’s still a ton of value on this line. Bolanos has given up easy takedowns in his UFC career. That a problem against Romious, who has had half of his professional victories via submission. With that being said, the submission prop of +200 is also pretty enticing, but I think we’ll ride this straight up since it’s a debut fight.
Antonio Tocoli ML (+145) vs. Tresean Gore
Another moneyline I like here is Trocoli. In his debut fight he hung with Shara Magomedov early and even landed some nice shots on the feet. That’s surprising given most of his wins are via submission and the ground game. I think that one fight, which was on short notice nonetheless, is tainting people’s view of him. Tresean Gore is also really green and I think should be easy for Trocoli to pressure.
Carlos Prates vs Neil Magny – Over 1.5 Rounds (-130)
When you see the moneyline in the main event, you might not want to lay that much chalk. If that’s the case, then maybe take a look at this total. Neil Magny is a notoriously tough out, which makes this over look even better. Plus, when you add in that Prates is a fighter who spends a round or so downloading information, I think it should easily make it over 7.5 rounds.
Gillian Robertson – Wins via Sumbission (+110)
Luana Pinheiro has given up a takedown in three straight fights. Some of those are to women who are not nearly as imposing as Gillian Robertson is at strawweight. The worse news for Pinheiro is that Robertson is also one that’s not easy to get up from underneath. The Canadian has nine wins by submission out of her fourteen total wins. It’s not often you’ll find her submission prop at plus-money, so we’ll take advantage while we can.
Mansur Abdul-Malik – Wins via Inside the Distance (-225)
Abdul-Malik is going to be one of the names off of this past season of Dana White’s Contender Series that we remember. Not only was his fight with Wes Schultz wildly entertaining, but he appears to be the whole package. While he’s a massive favorite in his debut, we can still find some value in his inside the distance prop. All seven of his MMA fights have ended inside the distance and he’s never seen a third round. I like that trend to continue here.
Karolina Kowalkiewicz ML (+400) vs. Denise Gomes
For a big dog play here, I like the former KSW flyweight champion to teach the prospect a lesson in the co-main event. Denise Gomes does have heavy hands, but Kowalkiewicz has only been knocked out once. That one time was against former champion Jessica Andrade. In fights that have gone the distance, Gomes hasn’t looked amazing. I think that Kowalkiewicz can lean on the gameplan set out by Angela Hill and steal some big dog money here.
