Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – October 5
Brandon Nimmo – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Brandon Nimmo has been solid over the last week. He has easily been handling this projection in that time. In fact, he has beat it in five of his last six games. While it might be scary to see Zack Wheeler on the bump, Nimmo has had success against him as well. He is a career 13-for-43 (.302) against him with a pair of home runs.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – Higher than 4.5 Hits Allowed
Yamamoto ended the year with a 3.00 ERA on the year, but the last few starts didn’t look quite as hot. He was within half a hit of this projection in each of those three games. Being that this is the beginning of a playoff series, I expect them to let him go a little deeper as well. Additionally, the Padres are a much better hitting team than the Rockies and the Braves, who are the last teams he faced.
Jake Rogers – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
A catcher might not be the most expected name to see on the board for a divisional round playoff play, but I love Jake Rogers here. He went 3-for-8 in the two wild card games and has had success against Tanner Bibee in the past. He’s a career 2-for-7 against him thus far, and I feel like he can get at least one hit here too.
