MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 3
New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers
First Pitch – 7:00 pm EST
American Family Field – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Broadcast – ESPN
While four runs have been scored in the first two opening innings in this series, I still like the NRFI here. Tobias Myers gets the ball first in this one, and the rookie has put together a great year. He carries a 3.00 ERA into the playoffs and has been even better as of late. He’s allowed just three earned runs in his last three starts (12.0 innings pitched). That equates to a 2.25 ERA over that span. That also includes his last start which was a 4.0 inning scoreless contest against these same Mets.
In the bottom of the inning, we’re going to put our trust in Jose Quintana. He too has been great this year, with his ERA at a reasonable 3.75 for the season. Like Myers, he’s been so much better as of late. In his last four starts (25.0 innings pitched), he’s allowed just two earned runs. That comes out to just a 0.73 ERA in that span. Even with the bats going for each team, I feel like I can trust the two arms as good as they’ve been lately.
