Rory McIlroy More Than 5 Birdies
Rory hit the ball so well in round one but could not get many putts to drop. I love when Rory is striping the irons, and that is what he did today, gaining nearly 1.7 strokes in round one. He ended up 9th in the field in putting and a measly 51st in putting. Look for the ball striking to remain consistent and some putts to drop in round two. Rory is a great bounce-back candidate for your Underdog Fantasy Pick’em slip.
Corey Conners Less Than 69.5 Strokes
In round one, Conners shot a super easy round of 69. He did not do anything special and put one in the water. He and Sam Burns had a disagreement on where to drop and Corey ended up getting the short end of the stick, having to drop way further back than he thought.
Nonetheless, Conners still did enough in his round to shoot 69, and I believe that is about the worst he can shoot on this golf course. As long as Corey plays his game, which is fairways and greens, he will fare well. Look for Conners to go low in round two and help you cash an Underdog Fantasy Pick’em slip.
