2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Underdog Fantasy Pick’em

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is held annually on Independence Day. Nathan’s Famous original location is on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. Some of the best eaters in the world will see how many hot dogs they can stomach in 10 minutes.

Paige Spiranac Lower 7.0 Hot Dogs Eaten

Yes, you read that right. Paige Spiranac, the former professional golfer and now massive social media influencer and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, offered to replace reigning champion Joey Chestnut in this year’s competition. Nathan’s jumped at the idea and she’s in. In a social media video she posted, she could hardly choke down six hotdogs, making 7.0 the perfect projection.

It’s all fun and games to have her in the contest, but when we really get down to the action, can she down seven whole dogs? As a regular person who’s not a competitive eater and frankly doesn’t look like she eats a ton anyway, I’m going to lean no.

Also, keep in mind that you have to consume not only the hot dogs but also the hot dog buns they are in. Maybe she’s taking it seriously and has been practicing, but this is more of a publicity stunt than anything.

Geoffrey Esper Higher 49.5 Hot Dogs Eaten

Esper enters the contest as the overall favorite to win the men’s division. In his qualifier, Esper ate 49.5 hot dogs to get into the event, so that’s his projected total in the actual contest itself.

Well, let me introduce you to a man who’s been living in Joey Chestnut’s shadow. Esper is ranked No.2 in Major League Eating to, well, you guessed it, Chestnut himself.

There’s no Joey Chestnut in this competition. That means it’s Esper’s time to shine. Last year Esper made it to 49 dogs to finish second to Chestnut’s 62.

With no Chestnut and a wide-open chance at winning, maybe Paige Spiranac hasn’t taken the preparation seriously, but you know Esper has. He goes over last year’s total and at least hits 50 in 2024.

Gideon Oji Higher Than 36.5 Hot Dogs Eaten

Oji is a true athlete himself. The former basketball player stands 6-foot-9 and chowed down 36 hot dogs in his qualifier to get into the contest. 36 is also the number of hot dogs he consumed in the 2023 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, when he finished in sixth place.

The heat is truly turned up on these Eaters this year without Chestnut in the field. Oji is definitely a long shot to win the thing, but everyone has a chance without the all-time Eater in the field. Oji will bring his A-game and at least get 37 hot dogs down.
