The home team is once again favored here with -120 odds, implying the Oilers have a 54.55% chance of winning. The total also hasn’t budged at 5.5 despite three straight games with at least seven goals.
Stanley Cup Final Game 6 Picks & Predictions
Oh boy, here we go again.
The Panthers have a third chance to close out the Stanley Cup Final against McDavid and the Oilers. Edmonton thoroughly outplayed Florida in Game 4, but Game 5 saw the Cats drive play significantly at 5-on-5. Unfortunately, the Oilers scored twice on the power play, once shorthanded, and McDavid netted two goals for the 5-3 win.
The Oilers are definitely alive in this series, but I can’t say that they’ve been the better team overall. Stuart Skinner has been clutch in elimination games all postseason long, and that hasn’t changed. Still, the Oilers are very top-heavy, with McDavid leading the way. But he may be good enough to carry the Oilers all the way back to Game 7.
The Panthers shouldn’t be discouraged, though. They just need to be a bit more disciplined in Game 6 after allowing Edmonton to go to the power play 11 times over the last two contests.
What I do know is that this should be a high-scoring game. There has been high-flying action in each of the last few games, especially the last two. The Panthers pushed hard in the latter two periods to get the game over the 5.5 total, with McDavid nearly doing it all for the Oilers.
I’m still backing the Panthers as underdogs here. They’ve been the better team, and I can’t imagine them losing three or four games in a row.
