All College Baseball Bets Are To Win 1 Unit
6 PM CT -150 Texas A&M vs. Kentucky +120
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Texas A&M: TBA, Ryan Prager SO LHP: 8-1, 2.53 ERA, 113 K, 19 BB, 85.1 IP, 1.99 SIERA
Kentucky: TBA, Mason Moore JR RHP: 9-3, 4.93 ERA, 80 K, 51 BB, 87.2 IP, 4.36 SIERA
Aggies’ Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle deployed an aggressive strategy of saving his Ace for the winner’s bracket game. However, in doing so, the Aggies pretty much burned both of their top relievers on Saturday.
Stopper of the Year Evan Aschenbeck threw 51 pitches, and Chris Cortez tossed 65. Texas A&M needs a good, long start from Ryan Prager, but Prager has his worst stretch of starts all season in this year’s postseason. Prager has a 7.86 ERA in his three postseason starts against Tennessee, Texas, and Oregon.
It is assumed that Kentucky will counter with Mason Moore. During his career, Moore has been dominant in the postseason, with a 0.38 ERA in the NCAA Tournament. Add in a Wildcats lineup that has serious momentum after ripping three homers in Game 1. If the Cats can jump on Prager and chase him early, this would be their game to lose, as A&M’s bullpen features a few arms that haven’t thrown much this postseason.
The Bet: +120 Kentucky ML (BetRivers)
1 PM CT -140 Florida vs. NC State +110
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Florida: Jac Caglianone JR LHP: 5-2, 4.71 ERA, 82 K, 48 BB, 72.2 IP, 4.08 SIERA, 7.62 ERA L3 ST
NC State: TBA
Both teams lost by one run in the late innings. NC State seemed more devastated than Florida did. The Wolf Pack was walked off by Kentucky after the Wildcats got to the dominant NC State bullpen. NC State has a super trio of young bullpen arms: Jacob Dudan, Derrick Smith, and Cooper Consiglio. They have a combined 2.36 ERA in the Wolf Pack’s most recent 21 games prior to the NCAA Tournament.
The Wolf Pack have options to use as a starting pitcher and neither are tremendous. They could use Dom Fritton, who has a 6.57 ERA on the season and 8.36 ERA in his last 5 starts, or they could elect to start Logan Whittaker (6.06 ERA), who has battled injury/sickness throughout the year but has pitched better lately (5.03 ERA L5 starts).
Florida will give the ball to Jac Caglianone. He has been their best starting pitcher throughout the season but has faltered big time as of late. Cags has a 7.62 ERA in his last three starts. In counterpoint, NC State’s offense is filled with left-handed hitters and overall struggles against LHPs. NCSU has a .941 Team OPS against RHP, but just a .758 OPS vs LHP.
Plus, the Gators have a kicker of their own out of the bullpen. Brandon Neely has only allowed 3 runs in 18 innings of work in the NCAA Tournament (1.50 ERA). A good start from Caglianone, with Neely bumping after him, is a good recipe for a Florida win.
The Bet: -125 Florida ML (BetMGM)
