Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – June 15
Gunnar Henderson Higher than 8.5 Fantasy Points
There has been absolutely no sophomore slump for the 2023 Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson. Henderson is slashing an unreal .273/.372/.587, which is good enough for an OPS+ of 176. Not to mention he is second to only Aaron Judge with 21 homers.
On Saturday, the O’s will take on the Phillies in what could be a Fall Classic preview. Taijuan Walker is on the hill for the Phillies, and I love this matchup for Henderson. Gunnar is 0-3 in at-bats against Walker, but he has an average exit velocity of 100.9 in those at-bats. Gunnar sees Walker well and I think this continues today.
Alex Verdugo Higher than 7.0 Fantasy Points
What a game it was for the former Red Sox Verdugo last night. In his return to Fenway Park, Verdugo was showered with boos from Red Sox faithful. He got the last laugh, though, going 3-5 with a home run, a double, and 4 RBIs.
Verdugo has been swinging a hot bat as of late and hit a double in his only career at-bat against Saturday’s starter, Cooper Criswell. I think he continues to show Boston what they’re missing by trading him and has another huge game at the plate. Verdugo is a no brainer in this spot!
