Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final ended with the Florida Panthers shutting out the Edmonton Oilers 3-0, but the tale of the game tells a different story. It was the Oilers, not the Panthers, who controlled play at 5-on-5, outshooting the Cats 32-18 in the game. However, Sergei Bobrovsky made several huge saves en route to a 32-save shutout in Game 1.
Can the Oilers even up the series in Game 2, or will the Panthers take a 2-0 lead? Let’s get right into our Oilers vs. Panthers Stanley Cup Final Game 2 betting preview with picks and predictions.

Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Picks & Predictions
The Edmonton Oilers still haven’t had an answer for the Florida Panthers. The Panthers won both meetings in the regular season and are now 3-0 against the Oilers overall this season. Most importantly, the Oilers have scored just four total goals in those three games.
The Oilers are a top-heavy team and that showed in the latter half of Game 1. Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins were the only forwards to play more than 15:22 in the game. The big three of McDavid, Hyman, and Draisaitl all played over 23 minutes. The same rings true on the backend with Evan Bouchard, who acts like a fourth forward at times, playing 27:17 to lead all skaters.
The Panthers’ depth won the day in Game 1, with Bobrovsky coming up clutch. While Edmonton dominated play in the first two periods, Florida got to its game in the final frame and controlled much of the possession. The Oilers had a 25-12 shots advantage through 40 minutes but were held to just seven shots to the Panthers’ six in the third period.
All in all, the Oilers still held a significant advantage in shots (25-16), scoring chances (24-18), high-danger chances (13-6), and expected goals (2.67-1.63) at 5-on-5, per Natural Stat Trick. Edmonton also generated nearly a full expected goal on its three power plays.
The Oilers are going to break through the brick wall that is Bobrovsky at some point, but the Panthers’ offense should pick it up as well. This could be the higher-scoring game I was expecting in Game 1, but the Panthers are still the side here.
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Moneyline Pick: Panthers (-140)
Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Total Prediction: Over 5.5 (-105)
