Fantasy Football Week 10 Flex Starts Based on TD Opportunity

Demario Douglas – WR – New England Patriots

Demario Douglas was my longshot to score a touchdown last weekend in his matchup against the Commanders. While he didn’t find the end zone, he did finish as a top-30 fantasy wide receiver. There isn’t any doubt anymore about who the WR1 is in the Patriots’ passing attack. This is a unit that has shown modest improvement in recent weeks as well, with Mac Jones looking more comfortable.

Douglas is in another great matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, who have been poor against opposing wide receivers. Douglas is also getting manufactured rushing looks that could be a factor near the goal line. He is the safest option on this list to return fantasy value even without a touchdown and is a solid flex option regardless.

Tyler Allgeier – RB – Atlanta Falcons

As much as fantasy managers hate it, Bijan Robinson has received less than 50 percent of the Falcons’ rush attempts for five consecutive weeks. Additionally, he has only one rush inside the five-yard line the entire season. Enter Tyler Allgeier, who has more total rush attempts and is referred to as one of the best goal-line and short-yardage running backs in the league by his coach.

While Allgeier wasn’t able to continue his success from last season into 2023, he has received double-digit opportunities in seven of nine games this season. The offensive line isn’t as good as it was in 2022, which has affected his efficiency. However, the Arizona Cardinals have given up the second most touchdowns to the running back position. Expect multiple touchdowns from the Falcons and Allgeier to once again be the goal-line running back.

Gerald Everett – TE – Los Angeles Chargers

I was asked to include a tight end in this week’s article, and Gerald Everett is one of my favorite streamers this week. He’s available in 68 percent of sleeper leagues and could be the No. 2 option in the passing game. With Mike Williams out for the season and Josh Palmer on injured reserve, there are few options to turn to.

While Everett struggled in his return to action last weekend, he has been a favorite of Justin Herbert near the red zone in 2023. Detroit has also given up the fourth most points to the tight end position despite having a strong defense. Justin Herbert remains one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL as well and is still No. 9 in the NFL in touchdown passes. If the Chargers are near the goal line this weekend, expect Everett to get targets without another big-bodied pass catcher.

Michael Thomas – WR – New Orleans Saints

I’ve missed on Thomas numerous times in 2023; nonetheless, he is in a great position to score once again in Week 10. He’s received the second most targets in the NFL for a player with only one touchdown catch. Furthermore, he is No. 17 in red zone targets and still gets frequent opportunities near the goal line as he has his entire career.

Thomas has been nothing but consistent, too, prior to his zero-point fantasy outing in Week 9. He recorded 6 or more targets in every game and finished with over 45 receiving yards in all but one. Minnesota also gives up the tenth most fantasy points to wide receivers and has been a part of a lot of shootouts this season. Thomas’s bad luck in the red zone is going to turn around soon, and this is a great matchup.

Jonathan Mingo – WR – Carolina Panthers

The SGPN fantasy longshot of the week is Panthers’ second-round pick, Jonathan Mingo. Quietly, Mingo has the highest snap percentage among all rookie wide receivers over the last four weeks. He has been a fixture in the offense the entire season and had his best performance in Week 8. This past weekend, he only had five yards receiving, though in a major step back. This was far from his fault, though, as the offense was a mess, and Bryce Young threw 3 interceptions.

Fast forward to Week 10, and the perfect storm is brewing for Mingo. The Panthers’ other deep threat, DJ Chark, is out, and Chicago has given up the most passing touchdowns in the league. After an incredible start to the season, Adam Thielen is finally beginning to show his age as well. He’s outside the top 40 fantasy wide receivers each of the last two weeks. Mingo is set to receive the most opportunities he has all season and is a great bet to score his first career touchdown.
